The Corner of Quirky & Kinky

I don’t know why I thought this would be an easy blog post. I mean, sure there are a lot of reasons that I write, but trying to condense it is trickier than I thought.

I write because I’m really not great at working in an environment that involves cubicles.

I write because I don’t like to wear pants or shoes and not wearing pants and shoes is generally frowned upon outside one’s home.

I write because I enjoy creating something that wasn’t there before while usingย the same twenty-six letters that everyone else is using.

I write because I get characters and bits of dialogue stuck in my head, and I want to follow them to see where they lead.

I write because when I was little and my parents got divorced (bear with me) some jerky guy wanted me to write about my feelings and I didn’t want to. My feelings were fine, thanks. So I wrote about a beautiful witch who lived in the woods with her pet cats, and dogs, and horses, and foxes, and bears. And she had lovely tea parties for all of her pets and the village children. But one day, a man came along and asked her about her feelings. So her pet bears ate him. After I wrote that story, that guy stopped asking about my feelings which were still fine, by the way, and I realized that words have power.

I write because sometimes, the witch wins and the bears get lunch.

I writeย because words have power.

I write because it makes me happy.

And isn’t that enough of a reason to do something?

Check out all the reasons the other bloggers write.

I’ve never seen you in pants. Do you own pants? :p

Do leggings count? But this is more like…metaphorical pants. ๐Ÿ˜€

“Metaphorical Pants” is the name of my indie band.

      2. Kel says:

LMAO… you can’t be a pantser if you don’t wear pants.

  3. Kel and I are on the same page. Another thought to add to this, you do wear your skirts at least? If not, please inform me which part of your couch is reserved for “Work on process – bare asses only” and which one is for “guests – pants optional.”

    1. Bronwyn says:

If I put clothes on, there are skirts, if not, there are jammies – so no bare asses. But mostly this is about metaphorical pants. I’m just not usually people-ready.

    I write because it’s necessary to life… ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Bronwyn says:

      Yes! That! ๐Ÿ™‚

That story you wrote about the guy asking about the feelings? AMAZEBALLS! Perfect response. I wish I were witty enough to have written something like that when they asked me to write mine down.

Also, I’ve had wayyyyyyy too much coffee today so I’m bouncing off the walls. This message should be read without pausing. Or breathing.

    1. Bronwyn says:

I heard you in my head while I was reading it. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m with the others… still stuck on the concept that you might actually OWN a pair of pants. I’ve never seen you in anything other than a skirt. Ever. Okay, maybe jammies (oh, this will get folks talking now for sure) but never, ever pants. Was that supposed to be the take away here? Whether you own pants? And where, on earth, are you hiding said pants?
Oh, and that you right because damn, you’re awesome at it. ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Bronwyn says:

Metaphorical pants! I feel like I should make some sort of disclaimer about pants in this post. ๐Ÿ˜€

  7. Gwen Cease says:

I’m stunned too that you might own pants. I’ve never seen you in pants. Beautiful skirts, yes, but pants no. And I love that the bear got lunch. He so deserved it. I hate when people ask about my feelings. I have them I just don’t wish to share them all over the place. I guess I need to get my own bear.

    1. Bronwyn says:

I just don’t find pants comfortable. ๐Ÿ˜€ And even though there are leggings…they’re mostly for super cold days *under* the skirts and exercising. Also? Bears are a good idea. ๐Ÿ˜€

  8. Pansy Petal says:

I will begin by saying; I get the metaphorical pants bit. However, I don’t even own leggings myself. Only skirts. So it all made sense to me. I don’t wear pants either. ๐Ÿ˜€

That being said, I am so glad you write. Love your stories! Even when the bears eat the funny guy asking dumb questions!

    1. Bronwyn says:

*high fives my fellow full-time skirt wearer* I have leggings for under skirts when it’s too damn cold and I have to be outside for any length of time. But I don’t like them. They make me cranky. Oh, and also for exercising. But more often than not, I just tuck the skirt in the waistband bellydance style. Because …ew…pants. And thank you! *Hugs You*

  9. I really liked what you said about pants and shoes and cubicles. Of course there are a ton of romantic, artistic, self-expressiony (I is writer!) reasons why I’ve always wanted to write for money but I think that wanting to work for myself in a pajama-friendly environment is probably higher up the list than I would like to admit.

    1. Bronwyn says:

There’s something to be said for jammies all day!
