Bronwyn Green

The Corner of Quirky & Kinky

It’s the music edition of our favorite things! I can tell you right now that I’m going to have a hard time narrowing this down. No. Really. A super hard time. I’m not even sure how to break this up into anything coherent, because I’m really more of a favorite song kind of person, but I’ll give it a go.

Favorite Genres

Alterna-Chick, Folk, Traditional Celtic, Traditional Middle Eastern, Celtic Folk, Alternative, random songs from just about every musical period, Disney, various show tunes, assorted classical pieces and movie soundtracks…

Favorite Albums

Counting Crows: August and Everything After – I will never not love this album. It’s pretty much perfection as far as I’m concerned. There isn’t a single song on here that I dislike. We’re talking a desert island level of love for this album.

Walk Off the Earth: REVO – I adore WOTE. And again, I love this whole album. It’s quirky and fun and more pop-y than I usually go. The harmonies are amazing and all of the singers are also wildly creative musicians and songwriters. Also, they do brilliant covers of songs that I swore I hated until I heard their cover.

Mumford and Sons: Sigh No More & Babel – I know I kind of cheated by listing two albums, here, but out of all of the tracks on both, there’s literally one song I don’t care for. That’s impressive.

Let’s who else do I especially love? In no particular order, there’s…

Damien Rice, Joseph Arthur, Dar Williams, Fleetwood Mac, Jeff Buckley, Simon and Garfunkel, Adele, Tori Amos (early years), Kate Rusby, Loreena McKennitt, Clocks and Clouds, Rusted Root, Billy Joel, Circa Paleo,  Noah Gundersen, Ani Difranco (also earlier stuff), The Beatles, Faun, Tim Minchin, Catie Curtis, David Bowie, Hozier…ack. There are just too many. But, these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I’m curious to see what everyone else picks. Find out by clicking their names.

All music is great and it is cruel to make you name your favorite children! 😉 Thank you for sharing.

    1. Bronwyn says:

It *is* cruel – you’re right, Pansy. 😀

Again, I question how we are friends 🙂 I noticed no Nickelback, but I knew they’d probably only be on my list unless Paige posted. But yeah for Billy Joel!

    1. Bronwyn says:

Norris, we’re friends because we’re both awesome. Even Chad Kroeger can’t stop that. 😉

Random: I think the Mumford & Sons cover of “England” (The National) is one of my favorite of theirs. Have you listened to their latest album, Wilder Minds? If you have Amazon Prime, you can stream it for free.

    1. Bronwyn says:

I *love* that cover of England. I’ve only heard one song off the new album, but now that I know I can check it out and stream it for free, I’ll be doing that. Thanks! 😀
